Established County's first full-time prosecutor's office

For over 27 years, with help of Sheriff's Department and the courts, kept County's violent crime rate at same low 4% as when first elected in 1988. (See Virginia State Police "Crime in Virginia" annual report).

Established first area C.A.'s office restitution collection account for crime victims; (collecting nearly $1,000,000 in restitution for crime victims since 1997).

Established Spotsylvania Victim/Witness Assistance Program

Collected well over $150,000 from "deadbeat" parents in criminal nonsupport prosecutions since 1997.

Instituted drug asset forfeiture procedures to benefit local law enforcement agencies and to deny drug dealers the profits of their crimes.

Instrumental in establishing Spotsylvania's participation in Regional Narcotics Task Force

Instituted Spotsylvania's first investigative grand jury, which for example in 2004, resulted in shutting down 2 illegal massage parlors with convictions for prostitution, money laundering and pandering prostitution, plus significant criminal street gang and other successful complex prosecutions.

Supervised the prosecution of from 14,000 - 20,000 criminal cases annually with a staff of 9 assistant prosecutors, 2 victim/witness worker & 7 legal secretaries.

Personally prosecuted many of the most serious felony cases, such a murder, sexual assaults, robberies as well as more complex "white collar" crimes each year. (See examples below).
